Aims & Scope
The Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution (LADR), a Journal of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) indexed in Scopus and included in the Web of Science, is pleased to announce the 2025 International LADR Workshop in Leipzig, Germany, co-sponsored by ASCE’s Construction Institute (CI).
The International LADR Workshop will consist of oral presentations and full-length articles. Fully approved articles that are presented shall be published in the Journal of Legal Affairs and Dispute Resolution in Engineering and Construction. Further, all approved articles that are presented at the workshop shall be published in an online special collection.
ALL accepted manuscripts are expected to be presented at the workshop. To optimize on effort, please submit an abstract/ manuscript only if you plan to attend the International LADR workshop. Articles not presented shall be excluded from the special collection. Interested authors and presenters are invited to submit 200-word abstracts for peer review and approval. Only approved abstracts shall be allowed to proceed to full article submission. In general, all scholarly, feature, and case study articles for the Journal have upper- and lower- word limits of 10,000 and 4,500 words, respectively. The manuscripts are reviewed by at least two reviewers and an editor.
Topics
All topics within the scope and areas of interest of the Journal are acceptable that pertain to areas of engineering and construction. These include, but are not limited to:
Contract law and interpretation; impact of contract conditions on project conflicts; professional liability and negligence; public bidding law and regulation; negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute-resolution systems; tort and insurance law; workers' compensation; human rights of workers; environmental law and compliance; regulatory compliance; contractual and legal issues related to sustainable construction, climate change, and new technologies; acts and statutes governing design and construction of public or private projects; state and federal hazardous waste law; law pertaining to wetlands, greenfields, and brownfields; maritime, coastal, and ocean law; river rights and sharing waters; real estate development and construction law; product liability; labor and employment law; administrative law; government contracts; administrative and management practices affecting the implementation of contract conditions and specifications; models for handling dispute resolution; construction deficiencies and defects; legal issues of building information modeling (BIM); effect of project delivery systems on disputes and claims; conflicts and legal issues of procurement systems; change orders, claims analysis, defense, and litigation; schedule delay analysis; disruption and lost productivity calculations; land-use law; ADA and OSHA compliance law and regulations; ethical violations giving rise to liability; and the teaching of law to engineers and construction managers.
Articles must be related to legal affairs and dispute resolution. The abstract submission deadline is ONGOING and is critical to the schedule. Abstracts must be submitted with all pertinent contact information at the abstract submission page on the workshop website.
All manuscripts must be submitted electronically in the standard ASCE format at ASCE’s Editorial Manager, https://ascelibrary.org/journal/jladah, by 15 December 2024, but preferably earlier, after authors receive notification of abstract approval. Please use the button “submit an article” on the journal homepage and indicate clearly in the submission’s opening pages that your article is for the “2025 International LADR Leipzig Workshop.”
For this journal, the Chicago style of references must be used, divided between list of cases, list of acts and statutes, works cited, and endnotes. We encourage the use of ENDNOTES to embellish the article.

There is a registration fee of 150 EURO. The registration fee includes:
